The Hermitage is located in the historic center of Florence.
The Hotel is located in a magnificent position in the historic center of Florence, overlooking Ponte Vecchio, a few steps from Palazzo Pitti and the Uffizi Gallery, reachable with a picturesque walk from the rooms of your charming hotel.
From the Hotel Hermitage all the main museums and art galleries of Florence are within reach, such as the famous Piazza della Signoria and the Boboli Gardens, a brilliant example of an Italian garden and the city's historic park.
A 5-minute walk from the hotel separates you from the main shopping streets - Via de' Tornabuoni and Via della Vigna Nuova above all - with splendid boutiques and shops selling fine leather goods, while, in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, the ancient shops are unmissable goldsmiths of Ponte Vecchio. Those who are in Florence on a business trip will be happy to know that the Fortezza da Basso and its prestigious and modern Congress Center are only 2 km from the Hotel Hermitage.
By train / The “Santa Maria Novella” central train station is a 15-minute walk from the Hotel Hermitage. As soon as you exit the station, follow the signs for Ponte Vecchio and Lungarno, the hotel is less than 20 meters from the bridge. If you have heavy luggage we recommend using the taxi, it arrives at the hotel in less than 10 minutes (€15).
By plane / Once you reach the “Amerigo Vespucci” airport in Florence, reach the Hotel Hermitage by taxi, the journey time is approximately 25 minutes and the cost is €25. Alternatively, the Volainbus shuttle is available which stops at the "Santa Maria Novella" Central Train Station. From here continue following the directions under 'By train'.
By car / Coming from Genoa, Lucca (A11) /Bologna (A1) - follow the signs for Rome and exit at Firenze Sud. Coming from Rome A1 or from Siena Superstrada, exit at Firenze Sud. Follow the entire motorway junction to the end and at the traffic lights turn left onto Via Generale Alberto Dalla Chiesa. After two traffic lights, pass the roundabout and continue straight onto Lungarno Aldo Moro and then onto Lungarno Cristoforo Colombo.
Walk about 200 meters moving to the left. At the traffic lights turn left onto the Giovanni da Verrazzano bridge and immediately afterwards turn right onto Lungarno Ferrucci. Continue straight for about 400 meters until Piazza Ferrucci. Before the square turn left, moving away from the Arno river for a moment, and then immediately right. After 2 traffic lights close together, continue straight and find the Arno on your right.
After about 400 meters at the next bridge, "Ponte alle Grazie", turn right across it and immediately after turn left into Lungarno Generale Diaz, direction Ponte Vecchio. Now you will find the Arno on your left and on your right you will first have Piazza Mentana, then Piazza dei Giudici with the Galileo museum and then the Uffizi Gallery. After the Uffizi Gallery, as soon as the road descends slightly, turn immediately right under the arch into Via Dei Georgofili and then immediately left under a small arch into Via dei Girolami until the "Piazza del Pesce" and you have arrived just in front of the hotel. We are above the ice cream shop, "Caffè delle Carrozze". You can leave your car temporarily in front of the ice cream shop. For baggage service the porter will meet you.
